Rhoades Holds Hearing on Proposed School Director Training CourseHARRISBURG - Senator James J. Rhoades (R-29), chairman of the Senate Education Committee, the Senate Education Committee held a hearing on Senate Bill 298, which requires training and instruction for certain school directors. Senate Bill 298, which Rhoades prime sponsored, would require newly elected school directors to complete a state level course and pass an examination before they are sworn into office. "This hearing provided the committee an opportunity to ask questions and have a discussion regarding participation in and implementation of the proposed school director training program," said Rhoades. "The testimony will provide a great deal of information as the bill progresses in the legislative process." According to Rhoades, the committee will work in earnest on some of the issues discussed at the hearing. "It is important to note that some of our school directs already require a training program for incoming school directors and have seen the benefits of that training, " said Rhoades. "I believe that a statewide program would only enhance the quality service that these dedicated individuals provide to our young boys and girls."
