Rhoades Announces Measures to
Combat Blight
State Senator James J. Rhoades (R-29) will announce the findings
and recommendations of the Blight Task Force at a Capitol press conference
Tuesday, February 12 at 10:30 a.m. in the Capitol Media Center.
Senator Rhoades will be joined by Sen. Pat Browne (R-16), Sen.
John Pippy (R-37), Rep. David Argall (R-124) and Rep. Todd Eachus (D-116), as
well as Pottsville Mayor John D.W. Reiley, Harrisburg Mayor Steve Reed, Lebanon
Mayor Robert Anspach, York Mayor John. S. Brenner and Reading Mayor Thomas
McMahon.
The press conference will also feature comments from Blight Task
Force members, including Jeri E. Stumpf of Jeri E. Stumpf & Associates, Inc.;
Elam Herr of the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors;
Christopher C. Houston of the Pennsylvania Association of House and
Redevelopment Authorities; and Elizabeth Hersh of the Pennsylvania Housing
Alliance.
Immediately following the press conference, a trolley will be
waiting outside the Capitol to take interested parties on a tour of blighted
properties in Harrisburg. The tour will show examples of blight, as well as
information about how Rhoades' legislation would help prevent and remediate
blighted properties.
